View Mai's maternity-friendly outfit: ruffle top, pleated skirt, aqua platforms, bow belt, white bangle set

This week, my baby girl has been moving around quite a bit in there. I can feel her especially when I'm sitting or laying down. It is the strangest feeling and so exciting at the same time. It feels like butterflies fluttering inside and has reassured me that there really is a baby in there! For a while when I couldn't feel her, we'd have to wait for our monthly checkups to hear her heartbeat to see that she's okay. But now, feeling her move is just so relieving and comforting. It also make us feel that much closer to her; it's like we can communicate with her! She even kicks Josh in the head from time to time. :

Second to diamonds, shoes may very well be a girl's best friend. Almost every girl has that lucky pair of shoes that carries special memories and can makeover almost any outfit. Below, a few of our Ruche Girls have shared their love stories about their favorite pair of shoes that have been with them through thick and thin!

Although I love wearing heels at times, I feel the most comfortable in flats.  If I do end up wearing heels, I always bring a back up pair of flats with me.  I love my pair of coral loafers so much that I have them in multiple colors, hehe.  I just love poppy colors,  especially in shoes because they add so much to an simple outfit.   A pair of jeans and a t-shirt looks that much better with a pair of poppy colored flats!

When I had to think of picking a favorite shoe I thought it would be impossible. You see, shoes and I we go way back. I’m more than a fan. We’re involved. I try to love them all pretty equally, but who doesn’t play favorites sometimes? I remember when I first saw this pair of pink bow heels. Major sigh.  I knew I had to have them, hold them and wear them as much as possible, but not too often that they’d get beat up! I’ve worn these shoes on some special days, like date nights, my bridal shower and my first day working at Ruche. I've worn them here, here, here, and oh yeah here too! These shoes have served me well and I really love them for carrying me through some important and special days. They make me feel confident, feminine, and they’ve never ever given me a blister. I think it’s a mutual love!

For me, picking my favorite pair of shoes was a no-brainer.  I found these beautiful leather wedges my sophomore year of high school at a major discount.  I have worn these shoes for many important memories in my life, which is why I love them so much.  I wore them to many different functions and events in high school and to my first few outings in college.  They were even the shoes I wore on my first date with my boyfriend three years ago.  I can walk in them for hours without my feet getting sore or tired.  My wedges have been the perfect pair of shoes, getting compliments wherever I go.  I think I wear them too much and I will be heartbroken the day that I have to retire them.

We can't even begin to express how much we love our nude leather shoes.  Both of us are the two girls that always wear high platforms around the office.  Between Laura and I, we must wear our shoes at least 3 to 4 times a week, whether it's to work or for a weekend outing.  When we first got our shoes, we couldn't believe how comfortable they were!  We have worn these shoes everywhere and even pulled off full day shopping sprees in them!  One of the main reasons we love our shoes so much is the platform height elongates our legs, and who doesn't love longer legs?  We cannot even imagine having to live without these perfect platforms.

Side Note: Tiffany is on her third pair of these shoes - she was not kidding.

    Guest Post by Mavyn Mom

    1) Cut 2/3 yard of fabric in half and create two rectangle pieces. Stack them on top of each other and fold the rectangles vertically. Cut a rectangle from the corner.

    2) For the neck and waist ties, cut 4 strips of coordinating fabric about 5" by 16". Fold each piece vertically and iron them. Make sure the fabric is inside-out.

    3) Sew each piece inside-out and stitch along the long side and one end. Keep the other end open on each piece. Push a wooden spoon through the open ends to turn the fabric strips right-side-out.

    4) Pin the four strips in place (line up the raw edges) and sew onto one apron piece. Tip: Wen using the sewing machine, pin the strips in the middle to keep them out of the way.

    5) Take the second apron piece and lay it face-to-face with the first apron piece and sew around the top and sides. Turn the apron right side out and iron down the seams.

    6) Hem the bottom. Fold the fabric up 2” and then fold in half again. Pin to keep the fabric in place and sew near the bottom fold and near the top.

    7) Cut another piece of coordinating fabric for a pocket. Fold in the edges and iron all the sides. Pin the pocket onto the apron and sew along the bottom and sides.

    8) Pat yourself on the back because you just made an adorable little apron!
