Not sure what to do this weekend? Grab your best friends and watch the opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics! Even if you’re not the sportiest of gals, with 98 events spread out between 15 sports and disciplines, you’ll surely find something intriguing! If nothing else, you can decorate cupcakes with the Olympic rings to serve to those rooting for their favorite athletes.

Here’s a round-up of the Olympic basics:
Location: Sochi, Russia
Dates: February 7 - February 23, 2014
Network (US): NBC
Mascots: Leopard, Polar Bear and Hare

Ladies to watch:
Lolo Jones: This multitalented athlete has come close to winning a medal in two summer Olympics, and now she’s giving the winter Olympics a shot! Keep an eye out for her in the bobsledding.

Jamie Anderson: A California native, this snowboarder has won all medal after medal at the Winter X-Games in Slopestyle. Maybe this will be the year she gets an Olympic medal to add to her collection!

Mikaela Shiffrin: It’s this promising skier’s first Olympics -- and she’s only 18-years-old! We hope she’ll break some records on the slopes and follow in Lindsey Vonn’s legendary footprints (skis?).
