We're kicking off our Semi-Annual Sale, and there are so many stylish steals we have our eye on! From striped tops to polka dot skirts and loungewear to evening attire, we are having trouble choosing our favorites out of the bevy of discounted beauties to choose from. We asked a few of our employees which styles would find themselves in their shopping carts, and we think they have great taste!

Products Assistant Brie has her eye on this striped dress by Other's Follow! She told us that she thinks this dress is a versatile wardrobe essential with its thin black and white stripes and classic silhouette, and she "would style it with a statement necklace and wedges for a wedding and strappy sandals for a backyard BBQ!"

Our Customer Service Agent Taylor can't get enough of this understated white blouse. With just a hint of detail, this piece is versatile and a summer essential. Taylor told us: "I would pair the Casa Del Mar Embellished Top with dark skinny jeans and wedges for dinner out with my friends!"

Email Marketing Manager Laura loves this colorful floral dress featuring hues of orange purple, and green complete with a sweetheart neckline and dainty straps. This feminine silhouette is ideal for the brunch date with her husband and puppy that she's imagined!

These employee picks have us dreaming of wandering in the warm sunshine! From long road trips to days at the beach, we can't wait to stock up on summer essentials for every summer adventure. Don't forget to take a peek at our sale section and find a favorite of your own!

Photographer and stylist Amanda Marie Lackey always puts a smile on our faces! Whether it's her stunningly romantic engagement and wedding photography or styled shoots, Hailing from Texas, Amanda has a keen eye for bringing out the loveliness in everything she snaps a photo of. From her charming style to her drive to live beautifully, we are so lucky to call this talented gentle heart a Ruchette! We can't wait to see the world through Amanda's lens when she takes over our Instagram this weekend. To get to know her a little more, we asked her a few questions to get a peek into her world:

    1. A go-to drink.
Sweet Tea. A true sign that I’m a Texas girl!

    2. A go-to Karaoke song.
Sheryl Crow’s ‘All I Wanna Do’.

    3. A uniform.
A simple statement dress that can be paired easily by throwing on a denim jacket, flats or wedges (depending on the day).

    4. A hair stylist they love.
Lauren Conrad’s YouTube how-to videos all the time.

    5. An exercise routine.
P90X3. The best 30 minutes of the day. I also love to throw in hot yoga during colder months.

    6. A hobby.
More like ‘hobbies’… Interior decorating, going to my parent’s ranch house to escape from the everyday, brunching, hunting for great books, writing and singing music with my husband and dreaming of traveling the world together.

    7. A best friend.
My best friends are forever best friends. They’re the kind where we could go months without talking, and we’ll pick back up right where we left off. Those types of friendships are a sisterhood I love so much!

    8. A healthy sense of self.
The older I become the more I realize the healthiest sense of self isn’t really about myself at all. It’s about the way I love others. The best way to fill myself up is to love selflessly. And of course… I take all the coffee and lazy Sundays I can get!

We feel so fortunate to have crossed paths with the talented Elena Fay. Her self-taught talent for creating fashion illustrations with sophistication and a touch of whimsy made us fall in love. From watercolor macarons to incredible videos of Elena's artistic process, Elena's love for creativity and fashion made her the perfect artist to create illustrations for our Business Casual Dress Code Guide! Currently residing in Washington, D.C., Elena's passion for travel comes through in both her style and illustrations, and we loved seeing her make our favorite business casual styles into works of art. We were lucky enough to sit down with Elena and learn more about her and her talents!

When did you first discover your passion for art?
I feel that I've been an artist for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a small country town in Russia and couldn't even imagine that someday my passion for art can become my career.

In 5 words or less, how do you describe your artistic aesthetic?
    Splash of color, beauty, happiness.

Would you use the same words to describe your sense of fashion?
Absolutely! Lately I've been really drawn to bright colors and it shows not only in my sketches but also in my closet.

What's currently on your Ruche wishlist?
Georgia Floral Dress by Queen of Heartz is my absolute favorite.

What do you love most about running your own Etsy shop?
Etsy is a great place for small businesses like my shop. Not only listing and promoting products on Etsy is very simple but also finding other creative outlets is very inspiring.

Just to get to know you a little more, here's a round of quick fire questions!
Phone, keys, wallet, and... a pocket sketchbook
Spring, summer, fall, or winter? Spring
Neutral or bold nail polish? Bold
Chocolate cake or apple pie? Chocolate cake

Don't forget to see Elena's business casual illustrations in our Business Casual Dress Code Guide and for more of Elena's fashionable creations, visit her Instagram, Facebook, and blog

Just because temperatures are on the rise doesn't mean you have to abandon a bowl of comforting soup. Using seasonal ingredients can help you craft a bold soup recipe featuring flavors not typically found in the soups we adore in the winter. Instead of a piping hot bowl of your favorite recipe, we've found some recipes for chilled summer soups to conquer your craving without competing with the summer sun. Try one of these recipes, or use it as inspiration for creating your own chilled soup!

    1. Chilled Avocado Soup with Mint & Nettle Pesto:  Avocado, mint, and pesto?! This combination of fresh seasonal flavors is perfect for a hot, sunny day. The avocado gives this soup a creamy texture that we simply can't resist. Give this recipe a try for your next weekend lunch with you and your sweetheart!

    2. Watermelon, Tomato & Almond Gazpacho: A traditional chilled soup, gazpacho is a staple in regions of Spain and Portugal during the warm months. This recipe features the addition of summery watermelon for a refreshing touch! This recipe would be perfect for an alfresco meal on your balcony or patio.

    3. Green Garbanzo & Leek Soup: This flavorful soup is as lovely as it is delicious. Basil is a summertime staple, and once you have a flourishing plant in your garden, this recipe is an essential! Filled with a variety of herbs, this colorful dish would be a hit as an appetizer at brunch with friends.

These chilled soups featuring the zesty flavors of gazpacho, refreshing touches of herbs like mint and basil, and summery fruits are a must-try for the summer months! Do you have a favorite or a recipe of your own? Share it with us in the comments below!

A cute and fun way to personalize any get together, from bridal showers and weddings to a laid back backyard summer soiree, is with a custom place card holder. This little craft is an easy way to integrate the decor of your party into your table settings and is a thoughtful detail your guest will love. We simplified crafting these little paper beauties, so go ahead and get crafting!

    1. Clothespin
    2. Construction paper
    3. Vellum paper (optional)
    4. Scissors
    5. Glue

    1. Draw and cut out two halves of a flower shape. You can also cut out and glue a few extra petals on top of the flower shape to add a layering effect.

    2. Glue one of the flower halves onto the top portion of your clothespin. Take the second flower piece and glue it to the bottom portion. Make sure that the two halves line up together when the clothespin is closed.

    3. Cut out a couple of leaves and glue them to the back side of the flower. We made our leaves out of green vellum paper, but you can easily use construction paper for this step as well!

    4. Insert your placeholder into the clothespin and then you’re done!

We love how a table looks with an array of pretty plates, a bouquet of flowers, and place card holder at each seat. Not a fan of seating arrangements? You can arrange the place cards on a separate table and allow your guests to claim their seats right before hors d'oeuvres and drinks are served!  We love adding gracious details to our party spread to make guests feel right at home.
