When I look back on the past year, it's hard for me to believe that everything that has happened fits into 365 short days! From watching my little Amelie grow a little more each day to watching Ruche blossom and flourish, 2014 has been a year of inspiration, progress, and joy. This year we launched our #LiveBeautifully campaign where we encourage women to embrace the little things and appreciate the small moments, along with the big ones, that make life beautiful. I can confidently say that all of us at Ruche have lived beautifully this year. We've had big moments like watching a lookbook go from an idea to a stunning reality and seeing our clothing featured in publications like Vogue, Zooey Magazine, Lucky, and more. We've shared little ones like watching Amelie's face light up during Ruche's 6th birthday celebration at the 31 Bits warehouse, and then watch her fall asleep, complete with a half-eaten cupcake in hand. She never fails to put a smile on my face.

One of the things that I look back on with beaming pride from the past year is our collection of lookbooks. Our recent winter lookbook, Away We Go, takes the cake as one of my favorite lookbooks. The setting of beautiful and historic San Diego brings this romantic collection to life. We always want to give our lookbooks context with a concept or story behind them, and I adore the stories we told this year. A few favorites from this year include the story of a stylish florist's busy day in spring's Flourish to a weekend getaway featuring real-life couple Kristin and Brandon Kidd in summer's Let's Get Lost.

Working with the Kidds was such an amazing experience. If you can believe it, they are just as adorable in person as they are in the photos from our summer lookbook!  I feel so lucky that I have the opportunity to collaborate with such talented and gracious people, and it just makes me even more excited for the new year!

Along with our lookbooks, I also had the opportunity to create features around real-life style conundrums. Twice this year we showed Ruchettes how to create thirty outfits with just thirteen essential pieces. We also showcased a variety of outfits for a variety of workplaces and how to take your office-appropriate outfits to a night out by adding just a few pieces. Making fashion relatable and attainable is something I love doing. print_option02

Our bridal collection launched in spring, and in addition to gorgeous vintage-inspired wedding gowns, we also included bridesmaid dresses. accessories, shoes, and even a few genuine, one-of-a-kind vintage pieces. We knew that it was a success when the praise from our Ruchettes starting pouring in via email and social media, and we practically bounced off the walls when reading Refinery29's write up swooning over our affordable bridal collection.

I always wanted Ruche to be more than just a website, so this year we've expanded our website to be even more user-friendly and filled with content. Our search now includes filtering by color, size, and price range to ensure that you find exactly what you need. I personally update our daily features calendar with the exciting new features. While I love working behind-the-scenes on a backdrop for a lookbook or making sure the styling for an upcoming feature is perfect, highlighting the products, brands, or blog posts is my favorite way of sharing the things I am excited about with the Ruche community. Instagram photos, tweets, and emails expressing excitement over their Ruche package are just a couple of ways our customers make me smile and want to work that much harder at making sure they feel at home when landing on Ruche's homepage.

Josh and I are so proud of the progress Ruche has made and thrilled for what's to come. We hope to continue to cultivate relationships with our customers and always put Ruchettes first, along with always making Ruche a destination for both fashion and beautiful content like yummy recipes, fun DIYs, and styling inspiration. Thank you for all your support and for another amazing year filled with the most amazing moments. Best wishes to all of you in 2015!

The year is winding down and we're taking a moment to reflect on 2014: a year filled with countless laughs, high-fives, and living beautifully. While we're thankful for another year of wonderful memories, we're looking forward to ending 2014 on a good note, so we comprised a list of the fifteen things we are going to accomplish before the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve. We hope this list inspires you and helps you find joy in the last moments of 2014!

    1. Treat yourself to something that spruces up your space.
    2. Read a novel! Go for the classics to try something new, like a graphic novel
    3. Bundle up and spend a day playing in the snow
    4. Craft your own centerpiece.

    5. Make someone smile with a handwritten note.
    6. Plant an indoor succulent garden.
    7. Treat a friend to coffee.
    8. Invite a few friends over for a movie marathon. Don't forget the popcorn!
    9. Volunteer at an animal shelter.
    10. Bake an apple pie.

    11. Discover a new way to tie your winter scarf.
    12. Spend an afternoon tackling a DIY
    13. Browse a local museum exhibit.
    14. Give yourself a manicure in a fun hue. We want to try out Pantone's Color of the Year, Marsala!
    15. Start a new Pinterest board and fill it with inspiration for the new year.

From cherry to burgundy and brick to Marsala, red is one our our favorite hues year 'round. There's nothing like a bold red lip and cute dress for a night out, or a bold red frock or coat to stand out against a blanket of winter snow. Complementary to any skin tone, a subtle pop of red or a monochromatic look in any shade of red has a swooning. We love how this shade can breathe life into any ensemble, and we spotted a few Ruchettes wearing their favorite red Ruche pieces!

Spotted in a red frock complete with a smile and her trademark long locks, Grace of Sometimes Gracefully layers her dress with a gingham print button-up blouse and boots to stay warm in the midst of a flurry of snow!Sometimes-Gracefully-Ruche1

Jessica of The Steele Maiden combines a few of our favorite things in one winter-ready outfit! A vintage-inspired leopard print coat, red shorts, and darling oxfords make this outfit delightfully retro, yet modern and perfect for the holidays!Leopard_Coat_Sole_Society_Bag_Asos_Oxfords_2

An essential casual ensemble, Designing From My Closet's Janeane pairs this open knit burgundy sweater with jeans, boots, and a statement necklace for a go-to casual ensemble. We love watching her dress this sweater up and down on her blog by pairing it with a cocktail dress or jeans for an off-duty look. ruche-sweater-a

Even the coziest of homes look even more comforting when decorated with holiday adornments! Trimming the tree wrapped in a favorite sweater or scarf is something we look forward to all year long. When it comes to the holidays, we adore the sentimentality that comes with receiving a homemade gift or the satisfaction of creating your own holiday decor, so we just had to create our own mason jar DIY that is both easy to make and looks charming on any stocking-covered mantle or decorated side table. Photo 11_title

    Mason Jar
    A sheet of black paper
    Santa Snow Spray
    Tea Light Candle
    Double tape or regular tape
Stationary supplies: pencil, ruler, and scissors or craft knife

Step 1: Sketch an outline of a town. We drew outlines of houses, complete with windows and chimneys, and trees of varying sizes. We left the windows larger so we could cut them out later to add more depth to our town when placed against candlelight. holida-mason-jar

Step 2: Using a black sheet of construction paper, measure the circumference of your jar and determine how high you want your town to extend. Your township should cover at least half of the height of the jar.mason-jar

Step 3: Using a pencil, trace your town onto the black construction paper. The trees and houses do not have to be the same height. It is visually compelling if some buildings are higher than others. Cut out your sketch with scissors. diy-mason-jar

Step 4: Spray 1 inch to 1 ½ inch of the jar with Santa Snow Spray. To create a light misty appearance of snow, spray the jar from a distance.  Put your jar aside to dry for 1

Step 6: Apply tape on your township and on the small trees and buildings before wrapping your jar with it to ensure that it properly stays put. Then tape the end of your town. cute-mason-jar

Step 7: Place a candle inside your mason jar and light it up for the holidays!  winter-wedding-ideasThere's always room for error - your town country does not have to be perfectly cut out! Once you are finished, place your candle jar around the house and light it up to show the silhouette of a Christmas town country!
