Some women just have it all: style, grace, confidence, success and determination. As an influential style guru with a massive online following hanging on her every post, Chriselle Lim is one of those women. She reigns as The Queen of fashion on Youtube where she shares her expertise with nearly 400,000 subscribers, using her influence to inspire and empower girls everywhere to feel beautiful. We recently caught up with Chriselle and got a firsthand look into the life of a fashion maven.
An editor, wardrobe stylist, and blogger – you’re a Jill of all trades! Have you always known you’d work in the fashion industry?
Yes, I've always known I would always work in the fashion industry, my mom study fashion and I developed my love of fashion from her. I didn't know what exactly I was going to get into, I originally thought I would study to be a fashion buyer and so signed up for a fashion merchandising program, I thought I would be on the business side more than the creative side.
Your goal as a Youtuber is to “empower women and girls all over the world to discover their true beauty”. We love this! Could you tell us a little more about how fashion contributes to empowerment?
Fashion contributes to empowerment because what you wear is a reflection of your current state of mind and its important to dress to always feel empower, Something as simple as wearing a power suit can also bring upon empowerment in your style.
If there is such a thing, what’s a typical weekday like for you?
A typical weekday consists of waking up, walking my dog Mignon, checking emails, going to the Chriselle Inc. office in downtown LA, having creative meeting with my team, then onto to shooting content whether its for the site or Youtube channel, then going home to a cooked meal from my husband!
And where can we find you on a Sunday afternoon?
Sunday afternoon you can find me at the beach with my dog mignon, or my favorite brunch place in Manhattan Beach with my hubby and Mignon.
If we were to peek inside your closet, which fall and winter trends would we find?
Cozy knits, lots of plum hues, and midi skirts.
Any favorite pieces from Ruche?
-Take A Chance Pleated Leatherette Skirt - Another classic piece, the pleats and faux leather give this skirt a modern twist that's wearable from day to night.
-Vanessa Floppy Hat - Floppy hats is one of those staple pieces that you need in your closet, it's also great to protect your pretty little face from the sun!
-Lake Union Trench Coat - By now I'm sure you can tell I gravitate to classic pieces that will be long lasting in my closet, as with this trench coat, this a must have piece that is versatile and can be worn through out all seasons.
What are your favorite magazines/blogs to read?
As of now, magazines I'm into are Darling and Kinfolk. And the one blog I currently love is called This is Glamorous because everything is feminine, sophisticated and chic.
