As we begin to drift farther and farther from our luscious summer days under the sun, we definitely can start to feel like a revitalization to our skin must take order. Our tan lines may still be apparent, but a boost of moisture will do our bodies good! We were ecstatic when we read this quick and easy homemade oatmeal face mask recipe from Martha of Mama Owl. Don't just believe us, you must try this recipe yourself. And relish in freshly replenished and soft skin ready to take on what next season has in store for us.

This summer my skin has been at it’s worst. I feel like this whole, acne after pregnancy is still going on (a year and a half later!). I have tried different face washes and always end up going back to my oil cleansing method, which I love. I’m surely sticking with it now, instead of trying other things. My mom recently reminded me of this miracle face mask, it’s super simple, but so very powerful. It cleared up so many of our rashes and breakouts as kids. I’ve been consistent in doing this every other day, and it has rehydrated my skin and it’s starting to even out my tone and acne scars, I’m sure the cleansing also has to do with that.

Take 2 tsp. of natural oats (quick oats are ok). Make sure they are unflavored and unsweetened, with no additives.

Add just enough water to make a dense paste; about 1/2 tsp. Add about 1/2 tsp of raw honey.

Three simple ingredients that make SUCH a difference. Stir the ingredients together in a small ramekin to create the paste. Before applying to the face, be sure there’s no makeup on, and completely clean without moisturizer. Apply the oatmeal paste with your fingertips ALL OVER, there’s nothing harmful in this even if your get it around your eyes, lips, or nose. I wait a few seconds until it’s set and add a second layer. Then wait 30 minutes or until its entirely dry and crusty feeling, then jump in the shower to take it off, or use a wet warm washcloth (try saying that fast 10 times!).

I hope this was helpful to those of you with sensitive, acne prone skin (like me, sad face). This has been such a miraculous little paste for me, and it’s 100% natural! My goal is to not wear anything but a good tinted moisturizer +bronzer on a daily basis, without concealer or foundation, especially important on hot summer days!
