We are so excited to welcome the weekend with the second installment of our Frocktails series, graciously hosted by Natalie of The Soho blog. In honor of Frocktober, Natalie will be sharing a cocktail recipe every week this month on our blog, inspired by one of our dresses. This week a rich autumn hue lead Natalie to whip up an indulgence in the Spanish style with sweet sangria, so read on for her creative inspiration and easy to follow recipe!
The drink that came to mind when I set eyes on this darling burgundy shift dress was sangria. I wanted to give it a seasonal twist, so I incorporated pears, pomegranate juice and best of all, sparkling apple cider. All those flavors and the wine-soaked fruit (my favorite part!) make for a pretty delicious drink.
1 (750 ml) bottle of red wine, Spanish or dry red wine
1/4 cup brandy
1/4 cup orange-flavored liqueur, triple sec or Grand Marnier
1/4 cup pomegranate juice
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 apple, diced
1 pear, diced
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 (750 ml) bottle of sparkling apple cider, chilled
Cut apple and pear into cubes and toss with lemon juice. Combine all ingredients except the sparkling cider in a large container or pitcher. Cover and refrigerator for 2 hours or overnight if you prefer. When ready to serve, add the sparkling cider.
