Our latest installment of the Intern Diaries focuses on the exceptional Jessi -- a bright-eyed, energetic gal with a knack for finding pretty images and a natural talent behind the camera! We couldn’t wait to see her charming, feminine outfits and hear her new ideas each day she spent in the office. Jessi also starred in our half birthday video and endured huge amounts of tissue confetti while still managing to hold the perfect smile. We can’t wait to see where Jessi’s charisma and talents take her!
What inspired you to apply to Ruche?
Since I’m a PR major at Cal State Fullerton, I really wanted to find an internship that would incorporate my studies but also my passion into their program. When I saw that Ruche was looking for a PR/editorial intern I thought it was too good to be true! I had already been familiar with Ruche and loved their products and what they stood for but had no idea that they were located in Fullerton! I applied right away and was ecstatic when I got the position.
What did your typical day in the office entail?
My typical day in the office always started with a hot cup of tea at my desk! The Ruche blog was my primary focus during my internship and I spent time researching photos, writing content, gathering DIY projects and learning about other interesting and talented bloggers. I can’t forget to mention the adorable four-legged coworkers that would come sniff by my desk and keep my lap warm occasionally!
What were some of your favorite projects?
Interning at Ruche doesn’t mean just sitting at a desk all day! I loved the opportunities I had to watch video shoots and even take part in them (check out the Ruche half birthday sale video!). As an intern I was able to photograph some products for the Ruche blog and even create some DIY crafts featured in the Ruche email newsletters. I was happy to help and take part in any projects to be honest!
What was the most important thing you learned during your internship?
I have tried to absorb all of the information and experiences I’ve taken part in since starting my internship at Ruche. I guess if I had to narrow it down, I would say that some of the most valuable information that I’ve learned would be about branding. Ruche has not only created a gorgeous website for women to shop, but a website that encourages them to live life beautifully and lets them know that every day can be the best day ever. The Ruche brand and what they stand for is an inspiration to all and that is truly an important thing to soak in and remember!
What advice would you give to future Ruche interns, and students about to start internships in general?
It is always important to start with yourself. Know your interests and your skills and strengths when applying for internships; it will make your search much easier! Some advice for future Ruche interns would be to always let your personality shine, ask questions and provide your best work in everything that you do!
Is there anything else you would like to share about your experience?
Interning at Ruche was such a wonderful opportunity and I will be forever grateful for all of help and mentorship I received while I was here! I’m not going to lie, I am definitely going to miss writing blog posts, but I can’t wait to see how all of my experiences at Ruche help to shape my future. Thanks guys!!
