Little Oink is not your typical pig. Sure, he likes truffle mushrooms as much as the next baby hog, but he would rather dig them out of the ground with a dainty shovel than his snout! This neat little fellow loves to clean, but Mama and Papa Pig won't have it. They are trying to raise him to be a proper pig, which means he has to learn to make a proper mess. "Don't come out until your room is a pigsty," says Papa Pig. "I won't have any child of mine going out looking so neat and clean. It's just not acceptable," says Mama Pig.

The one thing this little pig doesn’t like? Mess up time. The superbly creative and adorable ink and watercolor drawings by Jen Corace are paired with quirky-cute, clever writing by Amy Krouse Rosenthal to tell a story with a humorous twist on a universal dilemma. Your mini-Ruchettes will giggle as Little Oink is forced to unmake his bed, unfold his clothes, put on dirty stained clothes, and drag in some mud before he can go out to play. He’s jealous of his friends who get to clean their rooms, and he decides that when he has kids, he will let them clean their rooms as much as they want. And that’s part of what makes this book so darling and hilarious, because every adult can remember the feeling of being young and thinking, I’m not going to make my kids go to bed at a certain time, or do their homework, or clean their room before going out to play.

Little Oink will become a quick family favorite, and with a sweet story that ends “hap-pig-ly ever after”, we’re sure you will want to read it over and over at bedtime as much as your little ones!
