Ahoy Ruchettes! Inspired by our nautical feature, The New Nautical, we've been on the hunt for fresh nautical inspiration. We came across so many cute nautical DIY projects, but all of the ones that captured our crafting fancy involved rope. There’s something about rope accents that evokes sea breezes and lounging at the beach, without being too sailor specific, like anchors and sailboats. Unless you’re decorating a Cape Cod beachhouse, you probably don’t want to go overboard! These nautical DIY projects are sea-worthy but chic, perfect for any space in your home.

First, we adore this simple DIY for adding natural texture to your table setting with rope placemats. Secondly, vases are a great place to start for any DIY project, acting as a blank canvas! Displaying hydrangeas in a rope vase is a pretty way to bring florals into your space, while the visual interest created in a rope vase with knots can add texture amongst other white décor accents. And lastly, a beachcomber basket becomes lovely nautical décor without the typical hefty price tag with this DIY project.
