We are in the first full week of 2015 and we're diving into our New Year's resolutions head on. While we are certain you've had an ear-full when it comes to resolutions like hitting the gym and staying organized, we are doing our best to keep our resolutions ambitious, but attainable. Part of living beautifully means focusing on the little moments that make us smile, so we are starting 2015 by promising to both acknowledge and celebrate the little things. Here are the tiny ways we plan on making 2015 even more beautiful one day at a time!
Cultivate Yourself: We are always fans of getting the appropriate amount of excercise and eating healthy, but this year we're making a point to ensure that our inside is getting just as much as attention as the outside. We're cultivating ourselves by making a point to pay attention to the little things, find a reason to smile every day, and finish each day with insightful reflection. Something as small as the way the light shines through our curtains at sunrise or watching steam dance above a cup of tea can make each day magical, and we're planning on paying more attention in 2015!
Take a Tech Break: We've all found ourselves in this situation: we go to meet friends for dinner only to find the table absorbed in their smart phones and no longer engaging with one another. It's okay - we are all guilty of this (especially when there are so many adorable puppy Instagram posts to look at!). Make the time with friends and family count and pledge to leave your phone in the car or on silent in your purse during your time together.
Give Back: Try spending a little time doing good by giving back. You could do this by volunteering in your community, or by doing something as small as buying coffee for the person behind you in line or helping a neighbor bring in groceries. Even little things like making sure your home or office has containers specifically for recycling or donating gently used goods and clothing to a local shelter are simple and easy ways to make the world a better place this year.
Keep Learning: In the new year, keep learning by trying something new. Conquer a DIY project, trade re-watching your favorite rom-com for a stirring documentary, or even learn a few phrases in a foreign language. If you want to embark on a more academic endeavor, there are endless resources for taking free college-level classes online. Your interest might even turn into a regular hobby! The important thing is to keep trying, doing, and exploring.
Always Aim High: While aren't advocating overwhelming yourself with near-impossible goals, we always believe in aiming high and never settling. It's a new year with new opportunities, so don't be afraid to finally take the steps you were afraid to make in 2014. We are dreaming big in 2015!
