After featuring Elizabeth on our blog a couple times, it became clear that this fashion forward lady would, without a doubt, be our August Ruchette of the Month. Ellie Joy is her blog where we get to see just how this Ruchette of the Month dresses for trips to Washington D.C. and enjoy the most scrumptuous of ice cream treats on the lake. But before you indulge in photo after photo of fashion inspiration, we caught up with Elizabeth and found out just what makes her a genuine Ruchette.

Describe your personal style in three words.
Timeless, preppy, feminine.

On your blog you have a lot of tasty looking recipes, would you say you’re more of a salty or sweet gal?
Most definitely sweet. The way to my heart is through chocolate mousse and do-nuts.

Where can we find you on a Friday evening?
Honestly - Friday nights are usually our nights at home. We order too much Asian food, open a bottle of Prosecco, snuggle with our frenchie, and catch up on all our favorite TV shows we missed during the week.

Do you have any style rules you personally follow?
Nothing really comes to mind. If anything I guess modesty is important to me, as well as my husband. ;)

When did you start to express your eye for fashion?
Not until after college when I started my first job. Other teachers were always commenting on my outfits, and it only took a little encouragement to make it a lifestyle.

Boots, heels or flats?
Heels, heels, heels! They make me feel put together, more confident, and wonderfully feminine.

Now that you are a Washington gal, is there anything in particular that you miss from living in Texas?
Yes! About two blocks from our apartment in San Antonio there was an adorable outdoor bar called The Friendly Spot. We would meet friends, drink Mexican beers or Micheladas (Bloody Mary mix with a beer -don't knock it till you try it!) and munch on chips and salsa. It was so uniquely San Antonio and we loved it!

Where do you find inspiration for each blog that you post?
I find inspiration in my daily life. It's not always perfect, but I know I will look back at posts and appreciate the beauty of where we were at the time. I'm a firm believer in choosing happiness and finding the beauty in every day.

How has your style changed since you made the transition from Texas to Washington?
That's a great question! I really don't know. I definitely take more chances and have way more "red, white, and blue" in my wardrobe.

Of course we have to ask… What is your favorite thing about being a Ruchette?
I've said this before and I'll say it again, Ruche has retro, yet modern pieces that allow me to reflect my love of mid-century fashion in a 21st century way.
