We all know that one of the best ways to stay youthful and glowing is to protect our skin with SPF. But with hectic schedules, it’s easy to forget to cover all your bases before heading into a sun-soaked situation! Here are some sunscreen reminders and product recommendations to prepare you for the UV rays of spring and summer. With the right products in your medicine cabinet or makeup collection, you’ll be more than ready for last-minute beach outings and surprisingly warm mornings at the outdoor flea market!

Don’t forget your...

To prevent signs of aging, it’s a good idea to protect your face from the sun’s rays on a daily basis. One way to do this is to switch out an SPF-free daily moisturizer with one that provides protection. If you’re truly in love with the moisturizer you use, try using it in tandem with an SPF veil. Have a big outdoor day ahead? Opt for more of a classic facial sunscreen for maximum cover.

You can also get protection from your makeup! Many BB creams contain SPF and can be worn alone as a light foundation (perfect for pool days and afternoon hiking!). If light coverage isn’t for you, use a BB cream as a primer, layering it under your usual foundation.

Not a fan of BB creams? Invest in a colorless makeup primer with SPF to improve the lasting power of your makeup or try switching up your finishing powder! And if you’re not smitten with your current foundation, you can also try one that has SPF built in. Just be warned -- foundation with SPF can give your face a white cast in flash photography, so stick to SPF-free foundation on a fancy night out.

Applying sunscreen on your body is standard protocol for a sunny day outside, but it’s still easy to miss a spot! If you’ll be wearing a bathing suit, apply your sunscreen before you slip on your swimsuit on to make sure you’ve gone beyond the borders of the suit itself. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen to the tops of your feet and the back of your hands -- these spots are often forgotten!

If you hate the goopy lotion, purchasing a spray-on sunscreen might give you more incentive to reapply. Just ensure you’ve blended it in well! A lot of spray-on sunscreens are clear, making it difficult to remember where you’ve applied.

Make sure you have a cute cover-up on hand that you’ll be just as excited to wear as your swimsuit. Taking breaks to rest in your cover-up will help minimize the chance of sunburn on a long day at the beach!
