With the buzz of spring break and warm-weather vacations around the office, it’s hard not to dream about idyllic beach getaways. Even if we’re not taking a trip this year, there’s no harm in plotting our fantasy seaside vacations -- we’ll get there someday! Here are three island destinations we’d love to visit in the near future. If you’re lucky enough to get time off this year, why not pack those getaway essentials and plan to vacation at one of these exotic spots?
For a luxurious experience: Mustique, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
A private island west of Barbados, this beachy retreat is frequented by celebrities and families alike. Mustique offers rental villas of all different price ranges to the public and features a wide array of activities, like tennis and horseback riding in addition to classic beach recreation. If we can ever afford the splurge, you know we’ll be soaking up the sun on an island usually populated by only 500 people!
For adventuring with friends: Fraser Island, Australia
Located off of Queensland, this gorgeous destination is the largest sand island in the world. A great spot for whale watching and scuba diving, Fraser Island is the ideal choice for a low-budget backpacking experience (well, you can keep things budget-friendly after you buy the plane ticket!). Because the island is only a few hours drive and a barge away from Brisbane, you can explore other parts of Queensland while you’re there. We hope to make it there with some of our besties one day.
For a romantic getaway: Matira Beach, Bora Bora
The French Polynesian island of Bora Bora is known as a top romantic destination, and Matira Beach is said to be the perfect example of what the island has to offer. If you’re looking for a quiet place to unwind with your spouse, this picturesque beach will set the scene for many memorable sunset strolls. Even if you can’t make it to Matira Beach for your honeymoon, you can always celebrate your anniversary on these sandy shores.
Looks like we’d better start saving! If you're traveling this spring, make sure your suitcase is ready to go! What beach is at the top of your travel wishlist?
