One of our favorite parts of summer is the extended daylight along with nights warm enough to run barefoot in the grass in the sundress you've been wearing all day long. The lingering sunlight of summer evenings is perfect for playing host and putting on a summer party with a rustic touch. From food to decor, we gathered our favorite tips and tricks for an outdoor summer soiree. Here is everything you need for a rustic summer party

Dine: When it comes to an alfresco meal, we love taking advantage of a fire pit or barbecue! Try cutting up your favorite veggies along with chicken or even polenta or tofu and assemble them on a kabob skewer. About thirty minutes before you're ready to throw them on the grill, let them soak in a homemade marinade for added flavor. We also love a variety of salads, grilled corn, and fruit guaranteed to please your guests on your outdoor dining table. Need a little culinary inspiration? Drink: Have a variety of chilled beverages like sparkling water and iced teas for your guests to sip on while they enjoy your fete. When it comes to your delightful libations, try making your own sangria the night before or an array of fruity cocktails. For an added kick, try making fruit infused ice cubes for a sweet or tart touch to your beverages. Don't forget to provide lots of ice for those warm summer evenings!

Decor: For perfectly rustic decor, be sure to adorn your entertaining space with plenty of lights or candles for warm and subtle lighting. For table settings, substitute the spring blossoms you've favored for sunflowers or even create centerpieces with succulents. Evoke rural charm with wooden details like cute benches or vintage crates. Finish off your rustic table by providing your guests mason jar glasses for their beverages!

Activities: We love party games - especially of the outdoor variety! Set up a croquet tournament or play a round of bean bag toss before the sun sets. After the sky grows dark, connect your laptop to a projector and play a classic movie on an empty wall or screen for a post-dinner feature film. Don't forget an open knit sweater or chambray button up to throw over your ensemble and an assortment of blankets to keep your guests cozy once the sun goes down!

Hosting a get-together with a hint of rustic charm is the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon. Do you have any party tips for a summer soiree with your nearest and dearest? Let us know!
